Active Start to Nov. for Home Health

Amedisys, a leading home health care and hospice company led off November with their announcement to acquire of Infinity HomeCare ($63M).  The acquisition of Sarasota-based Infinity expands Amedisys' footprint into a key state with Infinity's 15 Florida centers.  But, there's more activity ahead…as CEO Paul Kusserow revealed the company has 300+ targets in its pipeline.  

Separately, Almost Family (AF), another leader in the home health care sector, announced the $40M acquisition of Home Care By Black Stone in Ohio.  The latter, a home health services provider, operates in western Ohio and complements Almost Family's existing Ohio operations.  William Yarmuth, AF CEO, expects the combined operations to establish the company as "the largest senior focused home health provider in the state…”

2015 Kicks Off with Home Healthcare Buys

The Ensign Group, a company that provides a variety of home healthcare and rehabilitative services acquired Scottsdale, Ariz.-based, Alarys Home HealthAlarys has offered home care and home health services since 2003.  The Ensign Group operates in eleven states and over 100 facilities, primarily in the Western U.S.
 
Addus HomeCare Corporation is a long-standing provider (since 1979) of personal and adult day care services.  The company is headquartered in suburban Chicago and operates in 19 states.  Their January 1 acquisition of Priority Home Health Care, Inc. expands their footprint in Ohio with six offices in the Cleveland, Akron and Columbus areas.  >>Read more

Home Healthcare Acquisitions

Almost Family, Inc., a regional leader in providing home health services announced its acquisition of SunCrest HealthCare.  The transaction increases their branch locations to over 240 across 14 states with a revenue run rate close to $500M.  >>Read more

Addus HealthCare, nationally known for services including nursing, personal care aides, and rehabilitation acquired Coordinated Home Health Care, LLC from Transition Capital Partners.  Addus serves 25,000 weekly consumers from 129 offices in 19 states and now adds 15 offices in New Mexico.  >>Read more

AxelaCare Finds Harvest Home

Founded in 2008, AxelaCare has been on a quick pace to becoming one of the country’s leading home infusion therapy providers.  Therapies provided range from immune globulin (IG) therapy to antibiotics and nutrition therapy.  Investment from Excellere Partners in 2010 aided AxelaCare’s innovation and tremendous growth - 30-40% per year.
AxelaCare’s management team and New York-based Harvest Partners, LP recently completed the acquisition of the company from Excellere.  Harvest’s senior managing director, Ira Kleinman noting, 
“The company’s [AxelaCare] investment in processes, technology and people has led to an efficient, scaleable model with opportunity for continued growth as a larger share of the population seeks access to these vital services.”

Steady Healthcare Hiring Continues

Healthcare continues to be a bright spot when it comes to US employment.  The industry added 23,400 jobs in March and 295,000 over the past 12 months.  The Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers reveal that jobs in ambulatory healthcare services exceeded other healthcare sectors with an increase of 15,000.  Home healthcare services - within the sector, added 6,800 jobs.  Hospital employment also rose in March.
